Home to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow since 1862, this victorian style building is a stunning historical venue offering class and elegance to its guests. The college was founded in the year 1599, which it is now aptly named, and the interior of the building is filled with period features and individual character. Conveniently located in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre, 1599 is a historical institution and a fitting venue for those who wish to celebrate their special day in a setting of such rich heritage.

Facilities 

Each wedding at the 1599 is granted exclusive access to the building and its function rooms and caters for up to 100 guests for a wedding meal and up to 150 guests in total for the evening reception.The venue has a civil ceremony licence so 1599 can host your whole wedding day from start to finish but can also accommodate part of your day by either hosting just your wedding ceremony or hosting the reception later on the day.

The 3 function rooms available are the College Hall, the Princess Alexandra Room, and the Lower Library. The college hall is a stunning suite filled with original period features such as decorative ornate ceilings, a grand Victorian fireplace and historical paintings and its rectangular shape makes it an ideal setting for both wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Like the College Hall, the Princess Alexandra Suite can cater for up to 100 dining guests and has been designed with traditional period features; large chandeliers decorate the ceiling with floor to ceiling windows filling the soft white coloured room with light. This suite can also accommodate both the ceremony and the reception part of the wedding. The lower library is an intimate location originally used as a reading room and is perfect for wedding ceremonies or drinks receptions with its capacity of 60 guests.
